Ailsa yachts were made on the Clyde  in Largs, Scotland for many years both before and after the Second World War. This model is an early example of the 1930's.

The hull paintwork is very striking in original green  with a gold coachline and varnish below the waterline.

This yacht has been sailed quite a lot. She appears to have been overvarnished which has helped to protect her but there are numerous marks and scratches. The worst mark is in the wood amidships on the starboard side. The overvarnish has started to craze in places to give a lovely patina.

There is some damage to the leading edge of the keel and the ballast is slightly loose.

The wooden deck is in good condition with its original finish. There are a few marks on the deck edge from sailing.

The deck fittings and name plaque, "Ailsa Yacht Guaranteed Clyde Built" are original.

The sails are original cotton and in really good order with just a few stains but no holes or tears. They have the lovely blue stripes which are indicative of its 1930's heritage.

All the spars, bowsies and hooks are original but the rigging is likely to have been renewed.

The stand is homemade and has a few marks but as it shows the yacht very well it is included in the sale if required.

This early Ailsa has a lovely vintage feel and look to her.
