Frank Suggs produced high class pond yachts, and various sporting items, in Liverpool between the 2 World Wars. It appears that most of them were then sold through the large stores of that time such as Gamages and Hamleys.
The majority of the production was in the 10 to 16 inch range. This particular yacht is 15 inches plus the bowsprit.
The hull has the wonderful wineglass shape that you would expect from a yacht made by Suggs.
She is in very good condition and the paintwork, in original colours of black and varnish, is in very good condition for her age. There are some marks in the varnish on the keel.
The deck has the usual convex shape and colour and a lovely carved toe rail.
The mainsail and the foresail are original but are showing their age.
Both are quite delicate and have been repaired. As you can see in the photos there is also some staining.
Suggs yachts have always been really difficult to find and are therefore very collectable.
The stand is not as old as the yacht but is included in the sale if required.
Please note: The bowsprit has been repaired at some point. It is now fixed and it will not be possible to remove it for delivery. (which is our normal practice)
