This high class racing pond yacht was designed by W J Daniels in 1906 as a 10 rater. This particular yacht has a hull length of 30 inches. She appears to have been made in oak by the bread and butter method . She was then hollowed to very fine tolerances.

The hull shape is wonderful and weighing just under 1.2 kilos is extremely light for this size of yacht. The interior was then varnished and a thin wooden (not plywood) deck fitted.

It is amazing that she is totally original. The paintwork and varnish are, unsurprisingly, a little dull and are showing their age.

The deck fittings are all original although the rear braine pin rack is missing. The adjustable mast foot and braine steering are both present and in good order.

She has a brassed hatch cover and upstand. Inside there is a copper carrying handle.

The sails are both in good condition. Although stained they do not have any holes or tears. It appears that the spars have been replaced and certainly the rigging has had to be renewed.

The yacht has some lovely fittings especially the braine steering, its associated blocks, and the adjustable mast foot.

If you would like further details or photos of particular areas of the yacht please do not hesitate to ask.

There is more information regarding XPDNC and Bill Daniels on the Vintage Model Yacht Group website. There is also a very detailed article progressing the restoration of a 30 inch XPDNC on classicpondyachts.co.uk.

The stand appears to be original and suits the yacht well. Over time it has been repaired. It is included in the sale.

This is a very rare opportunity to obtain a classic Daniels designed yacht in original condition.
