The Arctic Star is one of the SB (Super Bermuden) range of Star Production pond yachts. This was the premier range of post war Star yachts as the models were fitted with an automatic steering system.
This particular yacht is in good condition considering she has been sailed extensively.
The hull has its original paintwork of white with the rubbing strake, rudder, and ballast picked out in gold. The paintwork is in good order for a yacht which has been sailed but there are marks and scratches and two small areas which have been "touched up" . Please look at the photos as they give a good idea of the condition. The Arctic Star transfers are perfect.
The deck is in very good condition with original varnish and drawn planklines and a perfect Star transfer. The sheet horses and the self steering tiller are all original.
The rig is in good order. The sails are surprisingly good as the yacht has been sailed.
They have a few stains and some foxing at the head of the mainsail. There are no holes or tears.
The spars and all the hooks, rings, and bowsies are original. Some of the rigging has been renewed.
The stand is reproduction and mounted on an oak base. It is included in the sale if required.
Larger Stars are becoming more and more difficult to find and are therefore very collectable.
